Sirin Orbital Systems AG receives a non-binding Letter of Interest from the Japanese major contractor KAJIMA CORPORATION, which is one of the oldest and largest construction companies in Japan, founded in 1840. KAJIMA CORPORATION is interested in future collaboration in the ENG-4 project, “Water Storage System for Lunar Life Support and Exploration”, initiated and led by Sirin Orbital Systems AG. The R&D phase of this activity is performed by the Institute of Energy Systems and Fluid Engineering (IEFE) at Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW), with the technical and scientific supports of the Laboratory of Food and Soft Materials (FSM) at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zürich (ETHZ).
Since 2016, KAJIMA CORPORATION has been working with Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) on the realization of a construction of a lunar base by R&D in a remote control assistance, autonomous motion control and automatic cooperation works. KAJIMA CORPORATION considers using SIRIN’s technology for the construction of habitats and infrastructures in space, since it provides the possibility of maintaining water in liquid state well below water’s freezing point by using a passive unfreezing method. The long-term cooperation shall be fruitful for both parties.
